Busy Time For NUDSA
STEPHEN Miller, who along with his mother Ros shares the secretarial duties for The Newcastle United Disabled Supporters Association (NUDSA), has a very busy schedule ahead of him - starting on Tuesday 4 June.
For as part of the Queens Golden Jubilee celebrations, Stephen, 21, has been invited to attend the Queens Jubilee Parade in London, an event he is very honoured, excited and proud to be a part of.
Next on Stephen's agenda is a trip to Ashington on Monday 8 July where he will take part in the 'baton relay', as it makes its way to Manchester for the Commonwealth Games later that month.
And then from 20 - 28 July, Stephen is off to the IPC World Athletics Championships in Lille, France as part of the UK Athletics team. Stephen won para Olympic gold medals in Atlanta and Sydney for the Club Throw (javelin), a discipline for which he holds the world record. Stephen also competes in the discus but the Club is his stronger event where he will be looking to excel once again.
The NUDSA, which has over 200 members, was formed in 1998, and has United's Northern Ireland defender Aaron Hughes as its Patron. Hughes took over from Warren Barton when he transferred to Derby County earlier this year although Warren has remained as a secondary Patron of the Association.
The NUDSA are involved in a myriad of activities each year, the next one being on 19 August when they are taking their 'Zebras' on a day trip to the Calvert Trust at Kielder Water where they will enjoy activities such as canoeing, abseiling and orienteering. The money to fund the trip has come from the 'Just for Kids' Charity.
