SHAY Given paid a visit to Kingston Park Primary School in Newcastle last Friday to say a big thank you to the pupils who had organised a sponsored silence on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support and raised a magnificent sum of £2,847.50 for Macmillan's ongoing appeal.

Shay is the Patron for the Tyneside Appeal of Macmillan Cancer Support and was delighted to receive the cheque for Macmillan which aims to provide information for people with cancer about treatment, care and living with cancer - to guide them and those close to them to the help and support they need.

Shay said: "I was delighted to come along to the school and meet the children who have done fantastically well to raise such a large some of money for our appeal.

"The Tyneside Appeal is of paramount importance in the region and we always welcome donations so I'm very grateful to each and everyone of the children who have contributed."

And Judy Evans, Head Teacher at Kingston Park added: "The sponsored silence was part of Macmillan's 'Big Hush' appeal and the children, including our nursery pupils, pulled out all the stops to raise a significant sum for Shay's Charity. The children were thrilled to see him and look forward to raising more money for him in the future."

Following the school presentation, Shay also received a cheque for £3000 for the appeal from Newcastle City Council 'New Deal' Community Wardens.
