SCOTT Parker has travelled to Germany for a hernia operation and will miss Newcastle United's final game of the season at Watford on Sunday.

The skipper won't be with the Magpies at Vicarage Road but is expected to be fit to return for pre-season training after the summer break.

The 26-year-old told nufc.co.uk: "I've had a bit of a problem since Christmas and I've tried my best to play on.

"We've taken the decision to get is sorted now and I'll have an operation on Friday."

Parker has made 40 appearances for the black and whites this term and has found the net three times.
