NEWCASTLE United striker Mark Viduka has been left out of the Australia squad to face Argentina in Melbourne next month.
The 31-year-old had a busy summer with the Socceroos, skippering the side during their Asian Cup campaign which ended at the quarter-final stage.
And Viduka, who has featured in each of the Magpies' opening three Premiership fixtures, will be able to enjoy a well-earned rest during the forthcoming international break.
The news is sure to please United boss Sam Allardyce after he told nufc.co.uk this week: "It was great to see Mark get his first goal against Boro on Sunday.
"But he's had a hard, hard summer and has started the season well and this is a chance to give him a well earned rest and recovery period."
