NEWCASTLE United Juniors suffered their first defeat of the year as Sheffield United put three past Swedish debutant Ole Soderberg.

The 17-year-old was making his black and white bow following his January switch from BK Haken but was unable to prevent the Geordies from slipping to their first reverse of 2008.

French midfielder Maxime Chanot opened the scoring just after the half hour with a near post finish from a right-wing cross.

The Magpies stayed in the game until the 74th minute when Ayman Thar made it two with a low shot from 20 yards.

And the scoring was complete right on full-time as Thar turned provider for Scott Bowden who fired home from 12 yards out.
