DUTCH stopper Tim Krul will get his first taste of senior action since his heroic debut in Palermo more than 18 months ago when the Magpies travel to Doncaster Rovers on Saturday.

The 20-year-old spent the majority of last season on loan at SPL side Falkirk but returned to the North East towards the end of the campaign to begin his rehabilitation following a dislocated shoulder.

And gaffer Kevin Keegan told nufcTV that the Holland under-21 star will get a run out at the Keepmoat Stadium as he rotates his goalkeeping quartet.

"Harps will start in goal on Saturday instead of Shay and we'll give Tim Krul about the last half hour or so as we did with Fraser Forster at Hartlepool."

Meanwhile, Krul is is hoping to show the boss what he can do during pre-season.

"I have said all along that I want to wait for my chance and then show the manager what I can do," said the Den Haag-born keeper.

"It is still very early in the season but during these friendly games I have the chance to catch the eye.

"We then go over to Spain where there will be more opportunities and then look at the situation again."
