Captain of the successful Under 17 Academy team during the 2000/01 season when he led the team to runners-up spot in the FA Premier Academy Under 17 League.
The Final against Ipswich, and his first appearance for the Reserves in 2001/02 (28 August at Blackburn) were the best moments of his early career.
Peter is a whole-hearted player who has an interesting choice of favourite player -Franco Baresi - and there weren't many better central defenders than the highly talented former Italian International.
Golf fan Peter, a solid and very dependable defender, wants to win a major trophy with Newcastle United - who's to say he won't.
Peter won the 'Wor Jackie' award from Sport Newcastle in March 2003 and became a regular with the reserves in 2003/04, making 34 appearances. Awarded squad number 42 at the start of the 2004/05 season he made his first team debut as a second half substitute against Olympiacos at St. James' Park on 16 March 2005, following that up with his first Premiership match at Old Trafford on 24 April 2005.
Versatile and dependable across the back four, Peter enjoyed good playing time with United in 2005/6 and 2006/7 with 29 and 32 appearances respectively - he's waiting for that first elusive goal though!
Signed a new 3-year contract with United on 27 May 2005. Cruciate knee injury suffered at Middlesbrough on 26 August 2007 will keep him out for around 6 months.
