SHAY Given once again proved he's number one with Newcastle United fans when he was the star of the latest Q&A night at Shearer's Bar.

Despite the disappointment of Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Manchester City, hundreds of Magpie supporters still turned up to see the popular Irish ace on Monday night.

Shay was joined by countryman and former Toon defender John Anderson, and with the evening hosted by BBC Radio Newcastle's Mick Lowes, the pair talked about all matters club and country, both past and present.

It completed a hat-trick of great Q&A nights at Shearer's Bar, with Steven Taylor, Peter Ramage, Michael Owen and Steve Harper having also taken the mikes previously.

The latest event also helped raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support via a raffle, a cause Shay works very closely with.
